  • June 10th Home Meet vs Hurricanes

Our first meet is almost here! We will be sharing a lot of information over the next few days, so be sure to check your emails!

Be sure to have the following emails saved in your contacts so they don’t get sent to spam. Emails come from several different email addresses!

    debbie.r.thomason@gmail.com, ok2bamerican@protonmail.com, miriammarie@gmail.com, anncourtney.winfrey@gmail.com, srf4989@yahoo.com, dahlgren-sharks-families@dahlgrensharks.com, & psmcgarrity@gmail.com

As a reminder, all King George Family YMCA rules and regulations remain in effect during the swim meet. Please enter through the poolside doors only, obey all posted signs, and remain in designated areas, including the pool deck, spectator area, poolside parking lot, and locker rooms. The lobby is reserved for volunteers whose meet positions are assigned there and should not be used as a gathering or waiting area.

To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we ask that all swimmers, families, and volunteers respect the space of YMCA members who are not attending the meet and refrain from wandering into other areas of the facility. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all.

If you haven’t brought your donations in yet, please do so ASAP. Here is the link for what we need for the meet, https://www.signupgenius.com/…/10C0F49AFA62AA2F5C34…#/

If you feel inclined to donate a little extra, our greatest need is Gatorade, Sprite, Strawberry Crush, and Orange Crush. THANK YOU!!

If you have not signed up to be a volunteer yet, please do so soon! If you are selecting a position that requires training, please make sure you get your training done ASAP.

Be sure to declare your swimmers! You have until TOMORROW (June 8th) at 8am to declare. If you do not, your swimmer will not be able to take part in the meet. If you are not sure how to do this, reach out to a board member ASAP!

New to swim? Wondering what a swim meet will look like? We have a Swim Meet 101 page! It will give you an idea of what to expect!

This post will be updated with meet-related information as it comes out. Please make sure you are checking your emails.

  • Sr. Assistant Coach Announcement!

The Dahlgren Sharks are excited to announce that our Sr Assistant Coach has been selected!

Hey! My name is Katelyn Spuchesi, and this is my third season with the Sharks. I couldn’t be more grateful and excited for another year of cultivating an enjoyable experience for these swimmers. A little bit about myself is that I’ve been swimming for 15 years, I’m going into my senior year at Randolph College, and I want to be a teacher! I enjoy the outdoors and athletics, as demonstrated by my being a double major in Environmental Studies and Sports and Exercise Studies. My background consists of being a King George native, born and raised. These past two years have been such a joyful experience for me, and I can’t wait to see what these swimmers accomplish this summer.

  • Head Coach Announcement!

The Dahlgren Sharks are excited to announce that our Head Coach has been selected!

Coach Patrick is an experienced multisport coach with a deep commitment to youth development, positive team culture, and skill-focused instruction. He is entering his third season as a coach for the Sharks, while he has also led and assisted multiple youth sports over the years, consistently emphasizing enjoyment of the sport, safety, and steady improvement. His approach blends structured skill development with creative, engaging practices that keep young athletes motivated and confident.

A lifelong swimmer, Coach Patrick competed for St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he was the 1999 CAC Swimmer of the Year and was elected as a member of the St. Mary’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

He continues to swim, competing with the Rappahannock Area YMCA Masters program and completing multiple open-water swims each year.
